Working at Weighting Comforts is rewarding in so many ways. It’s awesome to watch our employees improve their English skills and feel more confident speaking in public because of our classes. We love knowing our products help people reduce anxiety and improve sleep.

The ultimate reward is receiving stories from our customers about how our weighted blankets have changed their lives. I’d love to share one of my favorite customer stories with you now!

I’ll never forget standing in a dressing room at the mall in December 2016, taking advantage of some after Christmas sales, when my phone dinged with a message from a customer. This is what it said:

Ms. Durham:

I've waited about a month to make sure I wasn't making this up. My central apnea started in late 2003 after two epidural steroid shots in my low back. After the second, I experienced many health problems, including apnea. Not sort of apnea; I've had seven or eight sleep studies, I'm treated by the nationally recognized department chair of neurology, and have been treated at the Mayo Clinic four times. I can't tolerate a bipap mask (long story) which sometimes helps central apnea...I've tried probably ten medications. None do much.

My law partner saw the article in the Wall Street Journal and I researched [Weighting Comforts]. I was helped by your credentials as a therapist. My sister is a long-time LCSW and I thought that you would not sell me something that was a joke.

In the last month [since getting the blanket] I think I have had only one night that I had trouble getting to sleep... However, I think all the other nightsI've gotten to sleep in a few minutes.

This is in contrast to the years before in which it was 3-4 times a week, sometimes getting to sleep (after 1.5 mg Klonopin) at 3:00 a.m. to get up and be a lawyer at 6:00 a.m. Yes, my life was torture.I've had 10 good nights in 12 years--that's after all this treatment.

I'm not quite stopping strangers on street corners, but close. I will take my comfort to my next appointment with my neurologist.

I just can't tell you how you've changed my life for the better.

I stood in the dressing room and cried. What a powerful story! We are making a difference. Our risks and hard work are changing real lives. Every week we hear amazing stories from our customers. Weighting Comforts keeps helping people. It is so worth it!

Thank you, Tim, for your story. Has a weighted blanket helped improve your life? We would love to hear from you!

Thanks for reading,

What Blanket Weight Should I Buy?

A general rule when purchasing a weighted blanket is taking your weight and multiplying it by .10, or taking 10% of your body weight. Using that number, follow the chart below to guide you in finding the perfect blanket!

100 - 130 lbs
Quilted Cotton 10 lb
Flannel 10 lb
CoolMax® 15 lb
140 - 170 lbs
Quilted Cotton 15 lb
Flannel 15 lb
CoolMax® 15 lb
180 - 200 lbs
Quilted Cotton 20 lb
Flannel 20 lb
CoolMax® 20 lb
220 + lbs
Quilted Cotton N / A
Flannel N / A
CoolMax® 25 lb

Fall in between two different weight limits for two blankets? We suggest going with the smaller of the two blanket weights.

Still not sure which size to buy? Most of our customers buy one of the 15-pound blankets.
